What we have here, ladies and gents, is a Miata wearing the skin of a Z3 with a 3.1L GMC blueprinted motor in it. The seller admits that the project cost him around $40,000 (for which he could have alternatively bought 4 or 5 actual z3s). The going price is $20,000! So Nice Price, right?

Sounds like a Shelby Cobra, has a GM V6. Interesting. Lots of interesting. Everything about this car is more money than it's worth.

I feel like that engine is actually a step down in power from the engine that was originally installed. And any minor increase in power it might have is more than offset by the extra weight. Also, you could probably buy a miata and a Z3 with an I6 for $20k at this point.

Oh god, I remember seeing this get mocked on the NB section of the Miata.net forums! I can honestly believe that is the same seller from months ago, still unable to offload that...”unique” Miata.

What?! You mean this thing has been on the market for years? How could anyone pass up the mighty roar of a V6 Shelby Cobra?

Looks like it was a fun project indeed. I bet it’s a blast to drive, too. I assume the seller was the one who did the build, and has all the necessary information for maintaining it (like what kind of clutch this thing takes). But if the seller bought it like this from the real expert... then God help the next buyer.

Pretty sure you can get an M Roadster for that price.

Let’s pay a machine shop a lot of money to build an engine from a 90's American economy car!
